Drummond is committed to respecting and promoting the human rights of all of its interest groups, including the communities, its employees and contractors, and its suppliers. The Drummond Dialogues are part of its commitment to better understanding of the perspectives of the interest groups. They are part of its commitment to improving the application of its human rights policy.
“The 2nd Drummond Dialogue on Human Rights with employees, the 4th with communities and the 8th with contractors and suppliers took place in October y November of 2022. 217 employees, 160 representatives of Community Action Boards of Ciénaga, Aracataca, Fundación, Algarrobo, Zona Bananera, Becerril, Chiriguaná, Codazzi, El Paso and La Jagua de Ibirico, and 105 representatives of contractors and suppliers participated, improving their knowledge of action and formulating recommendations for improving it,” said José Rafael Unda, Manager of Ardura SAS and outside consultant on human rights topics for Drummond.
“These Dialogues, which are fundamental spaces, add to the training of our collaborators in the implementation of the standards that we have adopted voluntarily to improve our performance with regard to the risks and impacts of our operation and to the promotion of and respect for human rights. These are the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPs),” noted Pablo Urrutia, Drummond’s Vice-president of Public Affairs and Communications.
“This commitment is part of our sustainability strategy, the purpose of which is to generate a positive impact. Peace and Human Rights is one of the four pillars of this strategy. We will continue strengthening our capacities and those of our interest groups for the construction of a just and responsible society at peace that promotes respect for human rights. In that way we will continue contributing – from our role – to the progress of Colombia and its regions,” stated Urrutia.
