In the context of its social commitment, Drummond Ltd, in agreement with the Office of the Mayor of Agustín Codazzi, Cesar, delivered the Institución Educativa Las Flores, Aida Quintero campus, as part of its Education Infrastructure Improvement Project for five institutions in that municipality.
“At Drummond we continue to strengthen the institutional and community capacity of the education sector with projects for infrastructure and educational quality. Suitable school environments have a positive effect on learning results,” stated Yilda Tatiana Pineda, Drummond Ltd’s Senior Supervisor of Community Relations.
The project fulfills various objectives that benefit the community. One of them was the use of personnel from the municipality to carry out the construction work at the school, creating employment opportunities for the inhabitants.
The work included improvement of safety aspects, investment in enclosure, reinforcement of beams, improvement of restrooms, changes in 21 doors, and general improvements to the institution. In addition, 100% of the electrical wiring, plumbing and lighting was installed anew.
“Due to the condition of vandalization and deterioration over the years, as municipal administration we decided to make some investments and requested Drummond´s accompanyment, help and solidarity, which has helped us with this and four other schools in this education project,” said Omar Benjumea Ospino, mayor of the municipality of Agustín Codazzi.
Drummond Ltd continues to show its social commitment to the communities, improving conditions of educational quality and providing support to the various administrations in its areas of influence in the department of Cesar, so as to continue doing mining with a positive impact.
