Drummond Ltd. strengthens the ARN strategy in Becerril, called ‘Mambrú is a different story’

The children received bicycles, and other sports equipment and educational aids.

Drummond Ltd. supported the plan for local strengthening of the “Protective Environments” strategy in the municipality of Becerril by delivering sports equipment and educational aids. The recipients were the children and young people who benefit from the initiative called ‘Mambrú didn’t go to war; this is a different story.’

The Company donated items such as backpacks, bicycles, sports uniforms, soccer balls, and materials for art and drawing clubs.

“Drummond has been a key partner in the effort to generate and bring opportunities to the region and to undertake this type of initiative, strengthening the communities where we live. The work to build peace and create protective environments is definitely the work of everyone,” expressed Angelica Agamez, ARN Coordinator in Cesar and La Guajira.

More than 40 children and young people received gifts.

‘Mambrú didn’t go to war; this is a different story’ – a strategy organized by the ARN, Drummond and the Mayor of Becerril – develops and energizes leadership in the community by strengthening group initiatives in accordance with the needs, interests, and abilities of children and teenagers. It has three lines for action: community reintegration, recruitment prevention, and citizenship strengthening.

“Two vulnerable neighborhoods were chosen for this national program under the direction of the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization (ARN). We began working on prevention in the neighborhoods with support from the company Drummond Ltd., which contributed the equipment for the sports activities we organized,” stated Raul Machado, Mayor of Becerril.

The event for delivering the gifts was attended by the beneficiary children and their parents, who expressed their gratitude to the organizations leading the strategy.

“I want to thank the different entities who chose the Divino Niño and Mochilanga neighborhoods for these strategies. We needed this support because it really helps our children focus their attention on good things,” said Luis Fernando Simanca, father of one of the children who has benefited from this strategy.

As part of the Comprehensive Development pillar of its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, Drummond Ltd. will continue to strengthen local skills in its areas of influence, in pursuit of prosperity for its communities.
