With the goal of building and improving classrooms to create better conditions for students in rural areas, Drummond Ltd. and the Mayor of El Paso are leading a project to optimize rural educational infrastructure in the villages of Repelon and Manantial in El Paso.

Yilda Pineda, Drummond Ltd.’s Community Relations Coordinator, and Andry Aragon, Mayor of El Paso, shared information about the projects with the beneficiary villages.

The current condition of the schools in Repelon and Manantial.

Drummond will contribute 400 million pesos to rural educational infrastructure, including the construction of classrooms, restrooms, and perimeter fencing, and other structural maintenance.

The Mayor of El Paso describes the project to the community.

“Currently, our administration and Drummond Ltd. have undertaken work on these rural schools, consisting of building a new classroom,

adapting a classroom already built, building a set of restrooms, and fencing in the area,” reported Mayor Andry Aragón.

The community had an opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions during the meetings. It also thanked Drummond and the Mayor of El Paso for their contributions to strengthening the schools in these rural areas.

“We were in the middle of a dream that, from one moment to the next, is going to become a reality. The year 2020 has brought bad things, but in the end, I think it is going to leave behind some wonderful things, like this new project. I know Drummond is very responsible with its communities,” stated Joel Fajardo, teacher at the school in Manantial.

Carlos Mario Blanco, council member in El Paso, also expressed gratitude: “We are grateful to God for permitting this type of project in the most needy communities of our municipality, like these rural areas, with the work of our Mayor and, above all, the goodwill and social commitment of the company Drummond as it invests in these social works.”

The work will be completed in the year 2021. Even with the COVID-19 pandemic, there is no stopping Drummond Ltd.’s commitment to improve the quality of education in its areas of influence and to make social investments in benefit of its communities.
