Drummond Ltd., along with the National Authority for Aquaculture and Fishing, AUNAP, made official the delivery of five boats it refurbished in benefit of the fishing community in the municipality of Ciénaga.
The motorboats ‘Elsa 1,’ ‘El Sable,’ ‘El Salmonete,’ ‘Las Palomas,’ and the dugout canoe ‘El Emperador’ are the first delivery of a total of 15 vessels that will be repaired in order to optimize fishing in the municipality in Magdalena, and to make a contribution to a tradition developed for many years in this town in Cienaga.
Present at the event were the representative of the AUNAP, José Camilo Costa, the coordinator for Magdalena from Community Relations at Drummond, Álvaro Daza, the Supervisor of the Environmental Department, Jesús Correal, and representatives of the community of fishermen, who signed the official documents guaranteeing the vessels were received by the members of the fishermen’s association belonging to the Los Almendros and Las Palmeras committees.
This delivery is part of the strategies that are being developed in the area of fishery, in support of the Company’s programs to strengthen communities.
“I feel really satisfied with the way they fixed my boat and those of the other fishermen. The motorboats fixed by Drummond will help us do our work and will be a support to the other members of the Association,”expressed Wilber Pimienta, a fisherman on the Las Palmeras committee in the municipality of Ciénaga.
With this delivery Drummond Ltd., in addition to meeting the stipulations of the Environmental License for direct ship loading, seeks to strengthen its relationships with nearby communities.
