Drummond and the Valledupar Journalists’ Circle award Scholarship to Social Communications Professional

In recognition of journalism talent in Cesar, Drummond Ltd., in alliance with the Journalists Circle of Valledupar (CPV for the Spanish), selected the winner of the Drummond Ltd. – CPV Communications Scholarship. The winner of the scholarship was Arnol Murillo, a journalist currently working with the El Pais Vallenato newspaper.

This award presented to journalists native to or residing in the department of Cesar, provides financing for specialization in an area connected with communications, allowing Drummond to create new opportunities for learning and possibilities for ongoing education.

Clara Ines Orozco, Secretary General for The Journalists Circle of Valledupar, provided oversight for the selection process. The committee of judges included Pablo Urrutia, Vice President of Communications and Public Relations at Drummond Ltd.; Mary Daza Orozco, author and columnist for El Pilon; and Mildreth Zapata, former President of the CPV.

During the evaluation, the judges confirmed that the candidates met the following requirements: Native of the department of Cesar or resident for more than 10 years Practicing journalist or connected with a media outlet A score higher than 4.5 out of 5 for the pieces submitted for evaluation and 5 years of experience

In the final stage of the process, three finalists were interviewed: Julio Mario Celedon, Edgard De la Hoz, and Arnol Murillo, who ultimately won the scholarship.

This is the second scholarship awarded by Drummond Ltd. and the CPV. The winner of the first scholarship was Carlos Mario Jimenez, a journalist who is currently doing postgraduate studies in Strategic Communications at Universidad Sergio Arboleda, in the city of Santa Marta.

Through this scholarship program, Drummond Ltd. uses education to reinforce its commitment to the region, while creating arenas for recognizing the effort and talent of journalists from Cesar.
