Drummond Ltd. donated sports equipment to two sports foundations dedicated to children and youth from 7 to 17 years of age in the corregimiento of La Loma; with the aim of ratifying its commitment to the communities and as part of our community strengthening program.
On January 25, the Coordinator of Drummond Ltd.’s Community Relations Office in Cesar visited the sports field of the Cañaguate neighborhood with the aim of sharing and distributing the following items: 18 uniforms for each of the teams, gloves, shin guards, cones, nets and balls. The items were received by the respective leaders, Kellys Johana Pana, President of the Community Action Board of the Primero la Gente neighborhood, and Elmer Meriño, Physical Education Teacher and Founder of one of the soccer schools in La Loma, who thanked Drummond for its collaboration.
“I’m really grateful to Drummond and its employees. It’s thanks to them that distribution of the equipment for the neighborhood’s children has been possible. I am convinced that with soccer we build peace. For the Primero la Gente neighborhood, this is an initiative for young people like these boys to show initiative in sport,” said Kellys Pana, Leader of the Fútbol por la Paz Foundation and President of the Community Action Board of the Primero la Gente neighborhood.
“I thank Drummond and God. May they continue to cooperate with us. I wasn’t set up as a school and thanks to God I now have my foundation, and I know that I’m going to knock on doors and they’ll listen to us,” said Elmer Meriño Beleño, founder of one of the soccer schools and trainer of the children.
This initiative by Drummond Ltd. aims at improve the living conditions of the children and youth of the municipalities in its area of influence, as sports represents the bridge that will allow many to achieve their dreams, breaking the paradigm of limitation and giving them the first rung on their path to success in soccer. In this regard, this activity is one of the components that the company has defined in its social responsibility program, which is very important, not only for Drummond but also for the community in general by creating a relationship of greater trust between the company and its audiences.
“I always see Drummond as a good ally. Our wish is that God bless and take care of you, and I declare that the best sportsmen of this region will come from here,” said Rafael García, Drummond Ltd.’s Coordinator of Community Relations.
The children belonging expressed happiness and satisfaction, and repeated their gratitude to the organization.
“I thank Drummond very much for giving us these uniforms. I am happy,” said Jefferson Gonzales, Member of the Fútbol por la Paz Foundation.
Drummond Ltd. continues to show its constant interest in the needs of the community of La Loma, and hopes to continue collaborating with the municipality in promoting the great human talent that lives in this area of the department of Cesar.
