As part of its commitment and social responsibility, Drummond Ltd. continues to promote the well-being of the communities in its area of influence during the health emergency caused by COVID-19. The company recently completed a second delivery of medical supplies and instruments to regional institutions in Cesar and Magdalena, through the offices of mayors and secretaries of health.

In Cesar, the municipalities of Agustin Codazzi, Becerril, La Jagua de Ibirico, Chiriguana, El Paso, Bosconia and Valledupar benefited from the deliveries. In Magdalena, the municipalities of Cienaga and Fundacion received this aid.

“In order to benefit public health – an essential, collective, and community right – in the area of influence of Drummond Ltd.’s mining, port, and railroad operations, and with the purpose of helping with the contingency caused by COVID-19, we have been working with local authorities to strengthen the healthcare sector by delivering medical supplies and instruments,” commented Yilda Pineda, Drummond’s Community Relations Coordinator in Cesar.

The donation of 137,974 units of medical supplies included facemasks, disposable surgical gowns and caps, gloves, hand sanitizer, sodium hypochlorite to disinfect floors, digital thermometers, and manually operated sprayers.

“We continue working with Drummond to promote the well-being of our community,” stated the Mayor of Agustin Codazzi, Omar Benjumea, upon receiving the donations.

This delivery is in addition to 22,460 units of supplies donated to health secretaries in seven municipalities of Cesar and Magdalena in the month of April, and brings the total to 160,434 medical uniforms, N95 masks, gloves, face shields, and bottles of hand sanitizer delivered in support of the personnel working to prevent COVID-19.

“We are grateful to the multinational Drummond for this additional contribution to the town of Fundacion. This biosafety equipment will be delivered to all of the administration’s healthcare personnel. Thank you for this important support for the entire community,” emphasized Alberto Sierra, mayor of Fundacion, Magdalena.

Drummond will continue to join efforts to improve public health in the towns near its operations. Its commitment is to protect and support its communities during this time of COVID-19.
