With the objective of providing the community of the town of La Guajirita and its hamlets with a primary health care service, Drummond Ltd., in agreement with the municipal government of Becerril, Cesar, will invest more than 419 million pesos in the construction of a health post in that town.
Basic infrastructure will be built, according to the guidelines of the local, departmental and national health authorities, aimed at providing low-complexity health services (first level): promotion and prevention, wound treatment, general outpatient treatment, general dental treatment, vaccination and collecting clinical laboratory test samples.
For this, construction will include offices for general practice, for taking laboratory test samples, vaccination and wound treatment; a dental office, a reception area, technical area, waiting room, storeroom, janitorial area and enclosure.
“Today we register the beginning of this initiative of a health center that is so important for the town of La Guajirita. It is a part of of the development plan. Today it is taking form and is a reality for the benefit of all of the inhabitants,” said Raúl Machado, Mayor of Becerril, during the socialization of the project with the beneficiary community
This project is a part of Drummond Ltd’s Corporate Social Responsibility pillar of Governability for Development, strengthening local capacity for greater efficiency in public planning and administration, aligned with the municipal development plans.
“This action is very important. We thank Drummond for taking into account the needs of the communities. Fortunately, the new health post is going to be built and will benefit the entire community of the town and its surrounding area,” said Javier Machado, president of the Municipal Council of Becerril.
It is estimated that the project will benefit approximately 230 people of La Guajirita, in addition to the neighboring veredas.

giving us the satisfaction of having this building,” said Sebastián Laguna, president of the Community Action Board of La Guajirita. With this kind of investment Drummond Ltd ratifies its commitment to strengthening the health sector in its neighboring towns, contributing to improvement of the quality of life of all who live there.
