To contribute to social inclusion, Drummond Ltd. and the El Paso Municipal Government inaugurated a new facility that will benefit more than 60 senior citizens in the El Carmen district. The new Senior Center will promote social integration, well-being, and comprehensive care for this vulnerable population.

“You embody the experience, the tradition, the culture of our region. That’s why, together with the mayor and the social manager, we prioritized building this Senior Center with the commitment to strengthen institutions and communities, to offer with suitable spaces, and above all, well-being,” stated Yilda Tatiana Pineda, Senior Supervisor of Community and Government Relations at Drummond Ltd.

The facility covers 151 square meters and includes easily accessible walkways and hallways, a kitchen, a dining area, a pantry, restrooms, and a nursing area equipped with a medical examination table, a wheelchair, and a first-aid kit.

In addition, the facility was equipped with 50 auditorium-style chairs, folding tables, a water dispenser, wall fans, and an eco-friendly recycling station.

“I am grateful to Drummond, that good neighbor who is always willing to support us and collaborate with us in this public-private partnership to bring great benefits and development to our territory: the municipality of El Paso,” said the mayor of El Paso, Jesús Ortiz Cervantes, during the inauguration.

The realization of this project was achieved through a strategic alliance in which Drummond Ltd. assumed 100% of the financing for construction and equipment, with an investment of $462,905,211.65. The municipal administration complemented the initiative with studies, designs, and technical support valued at $20,000,000, bringing the total cost to $482,905,211.65.

“We seniors are happy, we thank Drummond, the mayor, and God (…). This belongs to everyone, young and old, to us, and thanks to Drummond because now we finally have a decent lunch to eat here,” said Edgar Fragoso Olivero, a beneficiary of the Senior Citizens’ Center.

With the completion of this project, Drummond reinforces its commitment to comprehensive development, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which aim to reduce inequality, build sustainable cities and communities, and forge partnerships to achieve these goals (ODS 10, 11 and 17).
