Reaffirming its commitment to the responsible management of its operations, Drummond Ltd. officially delivered the properties vacated by the families/households registered as residents, from the former town of El Hatillo to the municipality of El Paso, Cesar.

During the ceremony, the mayor received the property for safekeeping and highlighted the importance of this process for the territorial organization of the municipality. Likewise, the National Land Agency was notified in writing of the release of the property, a vacant lot belonging to the nation.

The event was held with the participation of local authorities, institutional representatives and community leaders, who accompanied this milestone that marked the closing of the process of releasing properties previously inhabited by families residing in the sector, within the framework of the obligations assumed by the company within the resettlement process.

“We are handing over this property in compliance with the provisions established in the current environmental resolutions and in the Resettlement Action Plan (PAR) of El Hatillo, reaffirming our commitment to the responsible execution of this process and to the communities in our area of influence,” said Juan Pablo Arteaga, Vice President of Sustainability at Drummond Ltd.

The 200 families residing in the former town of El Hatillo were previously resettled individually in homes selected autonomously by each of them, as part of the comprehensive process that included not only the delivery of housing solutions, but also actions aimed at restoring their living conditions, through the formulation and implementation of productive projects.

As Jesualdo Vega Camacho, representative of the El Hatillo community, stated: “Many families have been able to take advantage of these resources and the projects that each family decided to set up, believing that it is the way in which they can improve their living conditions. Mayor, company, as you were saying, this doesn’t end here; the support process comes separately (…); and may that brotherhood that arose during the process extend far beyond what the law and the regulations allow us to do.”

The signing of the land transfer agreement was carried out with the participation of representatives from the El Paso municipal administration, the company, and the project operators: The Minuto de Dios Corporation, Coorambiental, the intervening entity AECOM, the presence of representatives from the National Environmental Licensing Authority (ANLA), as well as community leaders, who acted as witnesses to the process.

With this delivery, Drummond Ltd. completed a key stage of the El Hatillo resettlement process, reaffirming its commitment to fulfilling its obligations and to the responsible management of its operations.
