• More than 450 children and young people from the rural sector benefited from optimal spaces that will strengthen their education.
Committed to the integral development of children and young people in Guamachito, Zona Bananera, in Magdalena, and as a result of a joint effort between Drummond Ltd., Ferrocarriles del Norte de Colombia — Fenoco SA — and the Municipal Mayor’s Office, three new classrooms were delivered at the Guillermo Álvarez Rural Departmental Ethno-educational Institution.
The project, which benefits more than 450 students in this rural sector, facilitates access to education and provides better study conditions, prioritizing the comfort and safety of the environment.
“These three classrooms, donated by Fenoco and Drummond, are a great joy because they provide an opportunity for more children to continue their education at our institution. As coverage expands each year, it is important that they have a place to attend their classes,” said Deisy Manes Molina, the institution’s principal.
On this occasion, Drummond provided the construction materials and equipment for each of the classrooms to the project. Fenoco, on the other hand, was in charge of the skilled labor, the technical coordination and the monitoring of the work; all this in agreement with the Municipal Administration, which guaranteed the land, the management of licenses and regulatory permits.
“We continue to invest in educational development, with these three classrooms we are delivering, convinced that education is the engine of social transformation for the children of this territory,” said Mayra Poveda Contreras, senior supervisor of community and government relations for Magdalena.
It is worth noting that, in 2024, Drummond Ltd., along with other partners, contributed to the remodeling of this same institution, with the construction of a school dining hall, a kitchen with a storage room, the front enclosure of the institution, and the renovation of the existing bathrooms.
With these new learning spaces, Drummond Ltd. continues its commitment to quality education and the sustainable development of the communities located near its operations.
