Reaffirming its commitment to education, Drummond Ltd., in agreement with the Universidad del Magdalena, generated a space for technology transfer focused on ‘Nature-Based Solutions’.
This initiative, which is part of the ongoing relationship between the company and academia, transcends contractual obligations and responds to Drummond Ltd. ́s conviction that sharing knowledge strengthens professional training and contributes to the construction of sustainable solutions for the region.
During two days, topics related to technical and environmental processes associated with mining and port operations were shared, providing participants with a comprehensive overview of management mechanisms, lessons learned and the implementation of sustainable practices.

“More than a commitment derived from a mining contract, for us technology transfer is an opportunity to share what we have learned along the way. We want students and future professionals to understand that mining done well is possible, that behind every process there are people committed to caring for the environment and to providing solutions that transcend in the lives of communities and in the development of the region,” said Beatriz Zapata, government affairs manager at Drummond Ltd.
This transfer scenario allowed participants to exchange learning and challenges based on real experiences, strengthening academic training with field knowledge.
“We thank Drummond for this partnership that allows us the interaction between students and teachers with the business sector. For us, receiving experienced personnel is very valuable, as it strengthens academic training and brings us closer to the challenges of the real world,” said Rocio Tijaro Rojas, dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Universidad del Magdalena.
With spaces like this, Drummond Ltd. ratifies that shared knowledge is the basis for advancing in sustainability and training professionals who contribute to the future of the country.
