As part of its commitment to education and social development, Drummond Ltd. closed the first year of the High School with Drummond project, an initiative that seeks to strengthen the academic training of young people and adults in municipalities in its area of influence in the department of Cesar.
This project is a continuation of Alfabetízate with Drummond, which since 2019 has enabled more than 3,700 people in the municipalities of Bosconia, Agustín Codazzi, Becerril, Chiriguaná, El Paso and La Jagua de Ibirico to learn to read, write and perform basic mathematical operations.
In this first year, 200 people from Chiriguaná, El Paso and La Jagua de Ibirico completed a training cycle that brings them closer to obtaining a high school degree, reflecting the positive impact that access to education has on their quality of life and personal growth.

“We completed the first term of the project with great satisfaction. With this training, Drummond reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the quality of education in the territory,” said Amalí Blanco Bohórquez, coordinator of corporate social responsibility projects at Drummond Ltd.
The project, developed in partnership with Comfacesar, within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #17 (partnerships to achieve the goals), seeks to close educational gaps and open new opportunities for the inhabitants of the communities near its operations.

“I want to thank Drummond for the opportunity it has given to us adults to achieve one more grade in our schooling, something we needed to perform better in life,” said José Catalino Ditta Rivera, a participant in the project.
During the process, the participants were permanently accompanied by educational agents who, acting as teachers, generated a close environment conducive to learning. “We are going to thank Drummond because without them this would not have been possible,” said Eidis Vásquez Guarín, the project’s field coordinator.

Eudo José Cerchar Atencio, another participant, added: “We thank Drummond for this project that allowed us to learn a little more and continue to grow.”
With initiatives such as the High School with Drummond, the company reaffirms its commitment to mining with purpose, promoting the development of human capital in its environment and consolidating its position as a strategic partner in transforming lives through education.
