In line with its commitment to social responsibility and comprehensive development, Drummond Ltd. is advancing important projects that directly benefit the communities in its area of influence, reaffirming its role as a key ally in education, culture, and security. With initiatives that respond to essential needs and promote social well-being, the company continues to strengthen its relationship with communities in Magdalena.
Below is the progress made on two important projects that are transforming lives in the municipality of Algarrobo and the district of Tucurinca.
Remodeling of the municipal library ‘Manuel Benito Rebollo’ in Algarrobo
Drummond Ltd. has begun remodeling the Manuel Benito Rebollo municipal library in Algarrobo, a structure built by the company in 2005 that benefits more than 600 people every month. This project aims to improve the quality of educational, recreational, and cultural spaces, adapting them to the standards required by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education.
The project is moving forward with the construction of an auditorium, a meeting room, and the refurbishment of the bathrooms and reading area, thus strengthening the social impact of the library. José David Aroca Páez, Planning and Infrastructure Secretary for Algarrobo, highlighted the importance of this work when commenting that the remodeling began: “We want many children and people from the community to become involved in this beautiful project.”
On the other hand, Annerys Rodríguez Alfaro, librarian in charge, thanked Drummond Ltd. for this investment, noting that: “With this project we will strengthen the social fabric and support the community, benefiting not only in educational matters but also in social and cultural ones.”
Closure of the Departmental Ethno-educational Institution of Tucurinca
In collaboration with the municipal administration of Zona Bananera, Drummond Ltd. began the project to enclose the Nueva Esperanza headquarters of the Departmental Ethno-Educational Institution of Tucurinca. The company will provide 100% of the necessary materials, while the municipality will assume the labor costs.
The enclosure will cover 384 linear meters with a height of 3 meters, equivalent to 1,152 square meters of block and column construction, and will benefit more than 1,300 students, 70 teachers, and the educational community in general. Carmen García, the institution’s director, expressed her gratitude, stating that “this wonderful work guarantees the safety of our children and young people.”
Likewise, Clareth Margarita Olaya Jiménez, mayor of Zona Bananera, highlighted the importance of this alliance: “This project, which has been requested for years, represents a major step forward for student safety and is the result of joint work between Drummond Ltd. and the municipal administration.”
Álvaro Daza, senior supervisor of communities at Drummond Ltd., reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the education sector: “We are very pleased with the start of this process that will provide security for the campus. Drummond Ltd. will continue to support educational programs in all their phases.”
Through these initiatives, Drummond Ltd. not only improves key infrastructure for communities, but also contributes to building a stronger social fabric by promoting education, culture, and security in its area of influence. Through concrete actions, the company continues to demonstrate that sustainable development is a fundamental pillar of its work.
