As part of its commitment to the communities in its area of influence, Drummond Ltd. is developing the project “Strengthening Productive Capabilities for Rural Women,” which in turn is linked to the national program “500 Thousand Agribusiness Women,” led by the Colombia International Corporation, an entity attached to the Ministry of National Agriculture.

Drummond joined the initiative by accompanying 23 productive organizations led mostly by rural women, located in the municipalities of El Paso, La Jagua de Ibirico, and Chiriguaná. This has included socio-business strengthening through the provision of specialized professionals who have worked in the technical, productive, and commercial development of these associations.

“With this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to the inclusion and empowerment of rural women. We recognize their leading role in the region’s productive sector and we want to ensure that these organizations can achieve economic sustainability in the future,” said Ever Carillo Navarro, coordinator of social and environmental projects at Drummond Ltd.

To date, 8 of the 23 beneficiary organizations have managed to capitalize on their business plans, with outstanding projects in sectors such as poultry, pig, and fish farming. This strengthening includes the delivery of supplies, tools, and equipment necessary to guarantee the sustainability of their economic activities.

The process also includes the implementation of an accompaniment scheme in the execution of business plans and in the marketing of products, with the aim of positioning them in local and regional markets.

Through initiatives such as this and other projects like the Entrepreneurship Incubator, the mining company promotes the active participation of women in the local economy, recognizing their transformative role in the well-being of their communities.
