The municipality of El Paso pays tribute to Alfredo Araujo, vice president of Communities and Government

*He is described as a pillar of regional progress.

On November 28, 2024, in a ceremony held in the municipality of El Paso, Cesar, its Mayor Jesús Ortiz Cervantes paid tribute as a social architect to Alfredo Araujo Castro, Drummond Ltd.´s vice president of Communities and Government. With municipal Decree No. 112 of 2024, he was given special recognition for his invaluable contribution to local and regional development, consolidating him, in the words of the mayor, as a benchmark of leadership and civic commitment.

The event, which brought together community leaders, local authorities, cultural managers and inhabitants of the municipality, became an emotional journey into the past. “It is the duty of the authorities to exalt the work of exemplary citizens such as Alfredo Araujo Castro, whose civic spirit and leadership have been fundamental pillars in the development of El Paso,” said Mayor Ortiz.

Upon receiving the recognition, Alfredo Araujo dedicated this tribute to his family and to all those who worked tirelessly to turn El Paso into a municipality. “This tribute also honors those who fought for this cause, a fight that I had the privilege of supporting alongside committed people,” he said.

With humility, he reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the municipality: “My bond with El Paso has been constant. Being considered an adopted son of this municipality is an honor that I carry with pride.”

The event also had many moments of reflection, with testimonies from community members who recognized the honoree as a pillar of regional development. It was a reminder of how his leadership has transcended generations, promoting progress and strengthening the social fabric of the municipality. The tribute also highlighted the values of unity and collective effort that have been fundamental in the construction of the municipality.

The tribute to Alfredo Araujo Castro and the recognition of Drummond Ltd. had a common thread: the development of a region is not the work of a single person or institution, but the result of a joint effort. Both Alfredo Araujo’s career and the work of the company reflect the power of leadership committed to collective well-being.

From history to action

The recognition highlighted not only Alfredo Araujo’s historical role in the creation of the municipality when he was Secretary and Acting Governor of Cesar, but also his tireless work as a business sector leader and member of Drummond Ltd. for more than 30 years. His management of social programs focused on education, health, culture and productive projects has had a direct impact on the quality of life of the inhabitants, transforming challenges into opportunities.

Al respecto, el alcalde Jesús Ortiz subrayó: “His tireless work has been key to the execution of projects that improve the well-being of the inhabitants of the municipality of El Paso. In addition, his leadership at Drummond, where he has been working for more than 30 years, has left a deep mark on the progress of our region. Thank you for your dedication and legacy, Alfredo Castro!”

Coincidentally, during that same week, the newspaper El Pilón, a media outlet that celebrated its thirtieth anniversary, awarded a recognition to Drummond Ltd., highlighting the company’s commitment to the economic and social development of the region. Alfredo Araujo received the distinction.

The tribute from the media highlighted how Drummond Ltd., through its interest in generating well-being for the communities in its area of influence, has strengthened ties with the population through sustainable development initiatives.

of the people of Cesar, opening opportunities for growth and offering resources to those who
