Journalist Ludy Ovalle is the new winner of the communications scholarship awarded by Drummond Ltd. and CPV.

* Ludy Ovalle Jácome is the eighth journalist from Cesar to receive the communications scholarship.

With the purpose of continuing to recognize the work of journalists from Cesar, Drummond Ltd. announces that Ludy Ovalle Jácome, a journalist from the city of Valledupar, Cesar, met all the requirements and obtained the highest score during the selection process of candidates for the communications scholarship, which is awarded thanks to the partnership between Drummond Ltd. and the Journalists Circle of Valledupar, CPV.

The process to select the winner of the eighth communications scholarship began on March 11, 2024, when the call for applications was announced. The works of the nominees were then graded by the jury, which included Iván Morón Cuello, dean of the Communications Faculty of the UDES Valledupar, representing civil society, Rafael Escalona Bolaños, president of the CPV, and Pablo Urrutia, vice president of public affairs and communications for Drummond Ltd.

The final phase included, along with Ludy Ovalle Jácome, journalists Helen Dayana Bohórquez Quintero and Annelise Barriga Ramírez, being Ludy the one who obtained the recognition to study a specialty related to the communications area.

Upon receiving the news, Ludy said: “I receive this wonderful news with great joy and excitement. This fills me with satisfaction, since economic difficulties had not allowed me to study a postgraduate degree or a specialization in my area of communications. During my 36 years of journalistic life, learning has been my driving force to move forward. Now, thanks to the agreement between Drummond and the Journalists’ Circle of Valledupar (CPV), I have this valuable opportunity”.

She went on to say:
“I am committed to study with dedication to give back for all that I have learned. I thank God for giving me light in the moments during the interview, because days before I had lost a loved one. Likewise, my eternal gratitude to all the people from Drummond and CPV who were part of this selection process. May God bless you infinitely.”

Applicants for the scholarship had to meet the following requirements, among others: be a native of Cesar or prove that they have lived in the department for more than ten years, currently practice the profession or be linked to a media outlet, have at least five years of experience and obtain a score of more than 4.5 out of 5 in the evaluated works.

To date, the winners of the communications scholarship have been Carlos Jiménez Saucedo, Humberto Carrillo Mindiola, Arnold Murillo Rincón, Aquiles Hernández Saurith, Daniela Cárdenas Seoanes, Wendy Peralta Cano and Miguel Alguero Montaño, who have been able to strengthen their professional careers thanks to this opportunity.

With the eighth awarding of the Communications Scholarship, Drummond Ltd. ratifies its commitment to continue contributing to the strengthening of the skills of the journalistic profession in the department of Cesar.
