As part of its social commitment to contribute to quality education, Drummond Ltd. shared its higher education scholarship program through a tour of the public educational institutions that are part of the municipalities in its area of influence in the department of Cesar.
“With these events, we make sure that teachers, students and parents are aware of the transparent processes we implement to award higher education scholarships. With these, we encourage academic excellence in the youth of our communities,” said Álvaro Daza Pinedo, senior supervisor of community and government relations at Drummond Ltd.
During the socializations, the requirements to access the scholarship program were announced: to be presented by the principal as one of the two best high school graduates of the respective educational institution, to have been born or to have completed the entire high school in the respective municipality, to have maintained an academic average equal to or greater than 50% of excellence from 6th grade to the first academic semester of 11th grade, to prove with certification from the municipal SISBEN that the family group is qualified in levels 1 or 2, or failing that, groups A, B or C and to prove results with a minimum overall score of 250 points in the SABER tests.
“It was a fun and educational day where they explained to us the ways to access the scholarship program. We thank Drummond for this opportunity for our young people to achieve their dreams,” said Harris Laguna Lamilla, principal of the Trujillo Educational Institution in Becerril, Cesar.
The following public educational institutions in El Copey were invited to the scholarship program presentations: José Agustín Mackencie, Agrícola, Delicias San Carlos, Rafael Soto Fuentes, Integrada Montelíbano and El Reposo; Bosconia: Carlos Restrepo Araújo, Eloy Quintero Araújo, San Juan Bosco and Nuestra Señora del Carmen; El Paso: Valentin Manjarrez, Benito Ramos Trespalacios, Potrerillo, El Carmen, Octavio Mendoza Duran y Nacionalizada El Paso; Chiriguaná: Juan Mejía Gómez, Rafael Argote Vega, Santa Rita, La Aurora, Manuel Germán Cuello and Luis Felipe Centeno; La Jagua de Ibirico: La Palmita, Agropecuario La Victoria, José Guillermo Castro Castro, Hilda Aguilar Meneses and Luis Carlos Galán Sarmiento; Becerril: Angela Maria Torres and Trujillo, and Agustin Codazzi: Alto Sicarare, 7 de agosto, Simón Bolívar, Nacional Agustín Codazzi, Antonio Galo Lafaurie, Francisco de Paula Santander, Las Flores, Luis Giraldo, San Ramón and Divino Niño.
It is worth noting that, to date, Drummond has awarded 227 higher education scholarships to young people from Cesar and Magdalena, which include 100% of tuition and provide a monthly maintenance allowance, which is adjusted annually according to the CPI.
In this way, Drummond Ltd. reaffirms its commitment to the education of the territory’s youth, contributing to the social development of the region and the country.
