As part of its commitment to quality education in Colombia, Drummond Ltd. donated two aircraft to the National Learning Service (SENA) for the Aviation Technician Training School in the city of Barranquilla, Atlántico.
“We are delivering two aircraft in ‘flyable’ conditions to the SENA training center, so that young people can learn what an aircraft does, their components, and can conduct practice flights in them, among others. Previously, the company also donated a helicopter, that is, SENA has three aircraft donated by Drummond. The purpose of this is for students to use the aircraft so they can have a complete practice process,” stated Juan Carlos Poveda, Aviation Manager at Drummond Ltd.
This delivery strengthens the training of students at a practical level, allowing them to consolidate their knowledge in the workplace.
The aircraft delivered, a Cessna 210 and a Cessna 206, will be used as laboratory, in order to provide more complete practices to aviation technicians, so that they acquire greater experience in their handling, their components, and their maintenance, favoring and enhancing the educational process of the students.
“I want to thank Drummond for these donations. Undoubtedly, this represents an advantage for our apprentices, since they are seeing a functional aircraft in real life, which allows the training processes to be developed in the best possible way and has a significant impact on the educational development of our apprentices,” said Hernando Estarita Tapias, deputy director in charge of the Industrial and Aviation Center of SENA, Atlantic region.
With these actions, Drummond Ltd. demonstrates its contribution to quality education in the region and the country.
