Drummond Ltd. successfully held a brigade meeting with the participation of more than 100 employees and contractors in order to strengthen managing emergencies that may occur in its mining operations.
“This meeting allows us to strengthen our Comprehensive Emergency Plan and enhance the capabilities of more than 600 brigade members that we have at Drummond for emergency response,” said Nelson Diaz Mora, senior industrial safety supervisor at Drummond Ltd.

The activity included five training stations, in which participants strengthened their skills and abilities in:
- Fire classification and operation of portable fire extinguishers.
- Maneuvers with fire hoses and application of jets.
- Rescue in confined spaces.
- Vehicular extraction and extrication.
- First aid.
“Through these training processes, we strengthen the prevention and attention to emergencies with knowledge that helps to enrich everything a brigade member needs to know,” said Alberto Insignares Salas, manager of IRO Fire School Colombia, an ally of Seguros Bolivar.
Brigadiers from Drummond Ltd., Masa, CHM Minería, Relianz, Sevin, Ejercito Nacional, Komatsu, Kaltire, Transporte Montejo, Cosecharte, Compass Group, Villa Loly, Aseres, Sicing, Insuelectri and JOL participated in the meeting and received training from experts from IRO Fire School Colombia, under the coordination of Seguros Bolívar.
“I am very happy to be able to participate in this activity that strengthens my knowledge as a brigadier,” said Yidis Hernández Cortés, truck operator for Drummond Ltd.
