As a sign of its corporate social responsibility, Drummond Ltd. launched two new projects: “Promotion of Citizen Participation in Territorial Development Planning Processes” and “Strengthening of Community Organizations in the Railroad Corridor and Port Municipality”, for the benefit of the communities in the municipalities in the mining, railroad, and port areas of influence.
“With these commitments we contribute to the municipalities and their communities having a clear roadmap for the fulfillment of their territorial goals, built from a joint vision. We also contribute to the empowerment of community organizations in the area of influence, so that they have tools and can achieve important actions for their communities,” said Ever Carrillo, social responsibility coordinator for Drummond Ltd.
Promotion of Citizen Participation in Territorial Development Planning Processes
With this project, operated by the Fundaci贸n Universitaria del 脕rea Andina, Valledupar, the company promotes the social and economic development of the communities through a process of accompaniment and strengthening of community and institutional capacities, for the participatory construction of the Territorial Development Plans 2024 – 2027 in the municipalities of its area of influence in the departments of Cesar and Magdalena.
“Very grateful to Drummond for this support they are giving us in the elaboration of the Development Plan. This is extremely important, since this plan is the way in which we make our municipalities different,” said Jorge Pati帽o G贸mez, mayor of the municipality of Bosconia.
Strengthening of Community Organizations in the Railroad Corridor and Port Municipality
Through this project, operated by the Universidad Sergio Arboleda in Santa Marta, Drummond Ltd. contributes to the design of an accompaniment route for the development of the capacities of the associations of community action boards in seven municipalities: El Copey, Bosconia, Fundaci贸n, Aracataca, Algarrobo, Zona Bananera, and Ci茅naga. The community members will receive strengthening of their skills and training related to norms, to be able to conduct project management for the benefit of their communities.
“This project is very important for the communities along the entire Drummond railroad corridor. It is very gratifying for us as community leaders to receive the support of this company and the Universidad Sergio Arboleda,” commented Jairo L贸pez, president of Asocomunal de Bosconia, Cesar.
In this way, Drummond Ltd. continues to demonstrate its social responsibility with the development of projects that contribute significantly to good planning and participatory territorial development, oriented towards satisfying the basic needs of the communities in its area of influence.
