Drummond Ltd, the largest coal producer and exporter in Colombia, continues to implement strategies that allow it to keep its operations safe and in constant development. For this reason, it announced the installation of a “Dispatching” system in its motor graders with the objective of optimizing loading cycles and generating wellbeing for its employees.
“Dispatching” is a large-scale mining management system that employs high technology components, such as GPS and data transmission, maximizing time-use and minimizing losses.
“The ‘Dispatching’ tool provides data collection and allows real-time processing in order to make decisions that permit the continuous improvement that characterizes us. Thus, we continue to be a world-class company that contributes to the growth of the region and of the country,” commented Germán Mojica, lead supervisor of the Dispatching Area.
For Drummond, teamwork is fundamental. For this reason the Road and Dispatching Departments work to contribute to the efficiency of transportation routes, integrating MineGraphics, the Auxiliary Equipment (motor graders) module and observation complemented by video cameras.
With this we seek to ratify the interactive problem-solving strategy in order to improve its processes and implement changes, to operate in a safe way and to improve loading cycles while providing feedback to the mining planning system, achieving better synergy among the departments and meeting the planned objectives.
Wilson Rincón, a grader operator in the Road Department, thanked the company for executing innovative strategies. “Thank you to Drummond for these strategies. This allows us to have better control and improve the productivity of the company through measurement of the movements and starting times and delays of each operator,” said Rincón.
At present, Drummond has 32 motor graders at the Pribbenow and El Descanso mines in its mining operations in Cesar. Sixteen of them will be provided with this new system.
