Drummond Ltd. acquired new equipment for its operations in the Department of Cesar to continue to provide well-being for its employees, guarantee safe work, and stay on the cutting edge of mining sector technology.

793D trucks

The company bought fifteen 793D Caterpillar trucks, which are used in the operation to transport waste rock. The vehicles have proximity sensors, anti-collision systems, and front, rear, and side cameras, allowing for greater control of the equipment, which makes the work safer.

“The idea of the new trucks is to improve comfort, safety, and health for all our drivers. Drummond’s investment of 45 million dollars demonstrates its continued commitment to all its employees and to the community,” emphasized Jose Arzuaga, superintendent of the moving equipment maintenance area at Drummond Ltd.’s mining operations.

854K Tractor

Drummond also purchased an 854K Caterpillar tractor, which, with its optimized yield, moves a greater amount of material with efficiency and safety. The equipment is going to strengthen the work to build and maintain dumps and backfill areas.

“With this equipment, Drummond wins in terms of productivity. We are able to remove more material to uncover the coal safely, while being more effective and productive,” said Roger Diaz, senior supervisor of the dump area.

This equipment will replace the work being done in the operation by two track-type tractors, which will make clean up much quicker of material that falls from the trucks.

349F Excavator

Two 349F Caterpillar excavators also arrived at Drummond’s mining operations, the largest of their kind. This equipment will reinforce production at the El Corozo mine.

“This machine uses the latest technology. It helps take care of the environment, because it works with special components. It also contributes to operator well-being and performance,” said Osmely Gomez, supervisor of the coal area.

Company employees expressed gratitude for the purchase of this equipment that will directly benefit them in their daily work.

“I’m so happy the company has invested in this machinery. It gives us satisfaction and great joy to see how they take care of their workers’ health,” said Cristobal Quiroz, a driver in the coal area.

Drummond Ltd. will in this manner continue to prove its operations are world-class, and will continue to have a positive impact on its workers and the communities in its area of influence.
