At the company’s headquarters, Drummond welcomed the Colombian delegation participating in the eleventh edition of the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, United States.
During the visit, leaders of the company expressed their commitment to promoting sports and healthy lifestyles, which constitute a key focus for its social responsibility, aiming at weaving the communities’ social fabric.
The 2022 World Games brought 3,600 athletes to Birmingham from close to 100 countries. On this occasion, more than 65 athletes represented Colombia in a variety of categories, including archery, billiards, bowling, squash, duathlon, water skiing, flying disc, muaythai, and roller sports.
The competition ran from July 7 – 17, held one year after the Olympic Games. The best athletes who practice sports not included in the Olympic Games participate in these competitions.
In his welcoming words, the president of Drummond Ltd., Jose Miguel Linares said, “It makes us happy to watch Colombia take third place in medals in a sporting event in which close to 100 countries participate. It’s just one more reason for Colombians to feel proud.”
Drummond will continue to promote sports in this manner as a vehicle for transformation and for growth for the region and the country.
